CEU Overview
Today’s building designers are rapidly increasing the use of adhered cladding systems and materials. Thin brick is becoming a popular adhered cladding material and as a result many brick manufactures are beginning to produce more thin brick. This presentation is an introduction to thin brick, its’ characteristics, installation methods and its’ common uses.
Learning Objectives: 1. Define thin brick, its’ different characteristics and how those characteristics help promote the safety of the occupants.
2. Describe the different methods of producing thin brick and how the production methods reduce the impact on the environment.
3. Describe the different installation methods for thin brick and how it can be used to benefit the health of the occupants.
4. Comparison of thin brick to face brick.
Meet the Presenter
Leslie Seaton Regional Sales Engineer ACME Brick
Leslie Seaton is a Regional Sales Engineer with Acme Brick Company. He originally joined Acme’s Technical Services Department in 2014, taking leave in May 2018 to rejoin the U.S. Marine Corps. Four years later, on his retirement, as a Major with 24 years’ of service, he rejoined Acme in 2022.
Leslie Seaton earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston in 2008 and his M.S. in Structural Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2021.
Leslie represents Acme Brick Company at The Masonry Society, ASTM International, the Brick Industry Association, Texas Masonry Council, and other organizations. As a Sales Engineer, he provides technical assistance to sales representatives and their customers concerning brick and CMU masonry. An accomplished associate with a broad skill set, Leslie also creates and delivers presentations to architects for AIA Continuing Education credits.
